Autism Symposium on April 2, 2022

Autism affected my heart at a funeral. My classmate and fraternity brother died at an early age. He left a wife and autistic teenage girl. At the end of the ceremony, she became impatient and started stomping her feet loudly and kicking her legs wildly. The look on the widow was a plea for help. At that time I started doing research on Autism in the Houston area. To my surprise, I found out that several ladies I knew around Texas have an Autistic child. Autism is not like cancer where you plea for help. These parents to me seem to hide and are ashamed of what they gave birth too.  Group homes are their future because some Autistic humans will never ever be independent. This is why I decided to be a voice for Autism.

During the year, some autistic young adults are either looking to or have made the decision to move into group homes. There is also a summer campsite where local Texas autistic students attend yearly for fun in the sun. Supporting this cause helps to provide relief and support to parents with autistic children and adults as well as providing a supportive community and opportunities to have independence for the kids and young adults.

Keep an eye out for our future events as April is Autism Awareness month.
